Sarah Belden has worked professionally in the contemporary art world since 1999 in several diverse roles. In addition to curating numerous independent projects over the years, she has held positions at Christie’s in the Post-War and Contemporary Art department and at several leading New York galleries, including Barbara Mathes, Zabriskie, and Mike Weiss Gallery, where she served as Director. She also managed the esteemed Emily and Jerry Spiegel private collection and has consulted on a variety of cultural projects in the United States and Europe, ranging from DIVA—the first digital and video art fair in the U.S.—to commercial ventures such as Art Athina, the International Contemporary Art Fair in Athens.
In 2006, Sarah Belden founded Curators Without Borders in Berlin, an innovative gallery and curatorial platform dedicated to international contemporary art. There, she curated the annual exhibition program, collaborated with major institutions, and showcased a diverse roster of emerging and mid-career artists. The platform received significant international press and participated in exhibitions and art fairs worldwide.
Sarah Belden has also curated several philanthropic auctions with Paddle8, raising funds for climate-change awareness. These included events in New York and Los Angeles supporting organizations such as 350.org, the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, and The Greybeards in Rockaway, Queens following Hurricane Sandy.
More recently, Sarah Belden served as International Liaison for Division Gallery in Toronto, overseeing the gallery’s participation in major international art fairs and organizing exhibitions and events in Los Angeles, New York, Mexico City, and Dallas. In this role she developed partnerships with galleries and institutions to expand the international visibility of Division Gallery and its artists.
In 2017, Sarah Belden founded Unique Multiples, headquartered in Madrid. Unique Multiples is a contemporary art platform specializing in curated artists’ editions authenticated through blockchain technology to ensure verified provenance for both physical and digital works. This service provides crucial transparency for artists and collectors as the art market increasingly shifts online. Working closely with international artists, Unique Multiples commissions and produces museum-quality editioned artworks—including photography, sculpture, works on paper, prints, video, digital art, and new media—and releases new editions through online channels, partner galleries, curated exhibitions, pop-up spaces, and international art fairs.
In addition to her curatorial and advisory work, Sarah Belden curates VIP art tours and specialized art-world travel programs for collectors, offering privileged access to museums, foundations, private collections, artist studios, and leading galleries. She has curated VIP programs at major international art fairs including ARCO Madrid, ZONAMACO Mexico City, Art Brussels, Frieze London, and others, creating bespoke cultural itineraries that connect collectors directly with compelling artists, exhibitions, and art-market opportunities worldwide.
